Why Use a Velux Certified Installer in Toronto

Velux makes some of the most reliable skylights you can buy, but a great unit can still leak if it is installed with the wrong flashing kit or the wrong underlayment. Certification matters because it means the installer has been trained on Velux’s own protocols for each model and roof type, and the factory warranty passes through to you cleanly.

We earned Velux Certified Installer status in 2004 and have kept it every year since, most recently with our 2026 Velux and Fakro certification renewal. We buy through a direct dealer account with Velux Canada, so we can get the full range, the right flashing kits and replacement parts without going through a big-box store.

Our Velux Expertise

Twenty years of Velux installs means we know the size codes by heart, which kit goes with which roof, and which older models need adapters when replaced. We also know the warranty paperwork, which matters when you need it.

What Actually Stops Homeowners From Choosing Velux

“Velux is more expensive.”

In our opinion, the difference shrinks fast when you count the factory flashing kit, better glass and warranty support. Big-box units often skip all three.

“Any roofer can install a Velux.”

Any roofer can, but a certified installer follows the factory protocol so the warranty holds.

“I don’t know which model I need.”

That is what the consultation is for.

“My old Velux is discontinued.”

We match the size code to the current model.

Field-Tested Workflow

How Our Velux Specialist Process Works, 5 Steps

The same five steps on every job, whether it is one skylight over a Leaside bathroom or a warehouse full of bays.

  1. 1

    Model Consultation

We look at the room, roof and how you will use it, then match the right Velux model, size code and flashing kit.

  2. 2

    Dealer-Direct Quote

Itemized CAD quote with the exact Velux part numbers, sourced through our Velux Canada dealer account.

  3. 3

    Permits Without Padding

Only where framing is cut, at cost. Some installers over-charge for permits thinking homeowners wont check other quotes.

  4. 4

    Factory-Protocol Install

Installed to Velux instructions for your model and roof, then checked against our founder's VCI checklist.

  5. 5

    Warranty Registered

Factory warranty registered on handover, remotes paired, blinds tested. Then it is all yours.

Straight Answers

Velux Specialist FAQ: 12 Questions Toronto Clients Ask

What does Velux Certified Installer mean?

It means Velux has trained and verified us to install their products to factory protocols. We have held VCI status since 2004 and it is re-verified every year. It also means the factory warranty passes through to you without disputes.

How much do Velux skylights cost installed in Toronto?

A Velux FS fixed runs $2,500 to $3,500 CAD installed, a VS manual venting $3,200 to $4,500 and a VSS solar $4,500 to $7,500. Velux TGR sun tunnels run $1,800 to $2,900 and blinds $300 to $830 installed.

What warranty do Velux skylights have?

Velux offers a 10-year product warranty on skylights and up to 20 years on glass against seal failure, with shorter terms on motors and blinds. We add a lifetime leak-free warranty on our install flashing.

Which Velux model is best for a kitchen?

A venting VS or solar VSS so you can let cooking heat out. If you only want light, the FS fixed is the most affordable.

Can you replace an old Velux with a new one?

Yes. We read the size code on the data plate, order the matching current model and replace it with a new flashing kit.

Can you switch a non-Velux skylight to Velux?

Yes. Often with a Velux FCM curb-mount unit on the existing or adapted curb.

Which Velux flashing kit do I need?

EDL for asphalt shingles and thin roofing, EDW for profiled tile and metal, EDM for low-profile materials. We match it to your roof.

Do you install Velux blinds on existing skylights?

Yes. We order by size code from the data plate and install manual, solar or electric blinds on new or existing Velux units.

What is Velux Active?

Velux Active is the smart home system that controls Velux skylights and blinds by app and sensors. We install and pair it.

Do you also install Fakro?

Yes, we are a Fakro Certified Installer too, so we can recommend whichever brand fits your project best.

Are Velux skylights good for Toronto winters?

Yes. Low-E glass, insulated frames and proper flashing handle Toronto freeze-thaw well. Solar VSS units recharge on short winter days.

Is a Velux worth it over a cheaper brand?

In our opinion, yes for most homes, because of the glass quality, factory flashing kits and warranty support. Cheaper big-box units often skip proper flashing.
